Absolutely beautiful little traditional 1700's pub with some wonderful ghost stories, surrounded by beautiful views over country side and hills and lovely walks through the local history. The food was outstanding from the fresh made soup and salads were fresh and delicious, and the mains were flavoursome and filling not to mention how reasonably priced it all is for such amazing quality. The staff were fantastic friendly and helpful over the phone and in person. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Will definitely be back again soon.

We LOVE ‘The Old Original’. Last Sunday, we celebrated our daughter’s christening with a small group of family and friends. The food (as always) was hot and fresh - but more importantly... absolutely delicious! The staff are just brilliant. Always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. 5 stars every time.

Visited the Old Original for their Friday Steak night and we were not disappointed. Streaks were cooked to perfection with plenty of accompanying sides. The service was quick and friendly, the overall atmosphere was great just how pubs used to be and still should be.

If you want a lovely steak meal in a lovely country place you should go here at least once. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Food is awesome. We attempted the 3 course Sunday Lunch for 15 but only just about managed 2 courses. The portion sizes are bigger than average. It's such a wonderful place with a fabulous atmosphere

I recently visited The Old Original for a lovely Sunday meal, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. My partner opted for the Sunday roast, and the roast beef was cooked to perfection — tender and full of flavor, without being pink. I went for the rag pudding with chips and mushy peas, and I must say, the peas were absolutely delicious! (as was the homemade chips and rag pudding). The gravy had a rich, meaty flavor that really enhanced the meal, not bland like some places can be. Plus, the portion sizes were generous, and everything was piping hot when served. The service was excellent, with friendly and efficient staff making sure we had everything we needed. I chose from the fixed menu, and ended the meal with a lovely slice of chocolate fudge cake for dessert, which was a real treat! The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. The pub has a warm, inviting atmosphere, complete with a candle on the table, and the rural setting with its lovely views makes it a perfect place to unwind. While the car park is a little on the small side, street parking is available, so it’s not too much of an issue. All in all, I would highly recommend this pub. The food, service, and overall experience were top-notch, and I can’t wait to return soon!

I love the Old Original and when I visit yearly from the U.S. this is one of the must try places. This place offers delicious traditional English pub food. Fish and Chips are great and love the mushy peas which you don't see in the states. I have tried a lot of the menu and here are my favorite starters and main courses in no particular order: soups (especially tomato bisque, potato and leek, and pea and ham), starters (Italian meatballs, pate, charcuterie) and mains (steak and onions, roasted pork, lamb Henry, fish and chips and Sunday Roast Dinner. As for the bar the wine is good as are the beers. If you like ciders try Inch's - its my favorite because it's tart and not too sweet.
